The Fox Point Block Party was held in the Northern section of the neighborhood this past weekend. Even with the remnants of Hurricane Gustav threatening to wash out the weekend, the weather cooperated to provide an extremely mild and pleasant day.

DJ/Karaoke services were provided by Fox Point resident Tom. His setup was extensive and professional, and he did his best to encourage full participation from the picnic-goers. Barbecue duties were shared among some of the volunteer neighborhood Dads. As usual, residents provided a sumptuous buffet of brats, burgers, sides, salads and desserts.

The kids were kept entertained with the Bouncy House, a Sand Art station, and Wacky Hair Dye. Temporary tattoos were also applied (but thankfully, the piercing station was voted down by the steering committee ;^). Once again, the sno-cone machine received plenty of attention from the younger residents, resulting in blue tongues to match the blue hair.

Other activities for the youngsters included volleyball, water balloon wars, boomerang tossing, bike riding and skateboarding. The adults enjoyed a Washers Tournament.

An after dinner parade around the neighborhood gave party participants an opportunity to burn some excess calories. A fire engine escort was provided by the good folks at the Central County Fire District.

Karaoke kicked in as the evening wore on (aided by consumption of liquid courage). Line dancing followed, including the Electric Slide, Duck Dance, and YMCA.

Your blog administrator collected his children and turned in around 10:00pm, but the evening continued with good conversation around the firepit. Another successful block party, thanks to your participation and the hard work of the organizers.
